Preview Roundups
December 07, 2019
Ottawa at Philadelphia 1:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers look to overcome a brief misstep and get back on the fast track Saturday afternoon when they conclude a three-game homestand against the Ottawa Senators. The Flyers saw their five-game winning streak, seven-game point run (6-0-1) and an impressive 11-game home point streak (7-0-4) come to a halt in a 3-1 setback to Arizona on Thursday night.
Buffalo at Vancouver 4:00 PM ET
Since winning their first three home games of the season, the Vancouver Canucks have not posted back-to-back victories at Rogers Arena, a drought they have a chance to end Saturday afternoon. Idle since beating Ottawa on Tuesday for only their fifth win in 15 games (5-8-2), the Canucks continue a four-game homestand against the Buffalo Sabres.
Toronto at St. Louis 7:00 PM ET
St. Louis Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo isn't letting a brief misstep trip him up when considering where his team currently stands -- atop the Western Conference. The reigning Stanley Cup champion Blues bid to bounce back from a shutout loss when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Colorado at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins finally saw their season-high eight-game winning streak come to an end but they still are riding a pair of impressive point streaks. The Bruins remain the league's only team without a regulation home loss (12-0-5) and have earned points in 13 straight games (9-0-4) entering Saturday's matchup against the visiting Colorado Avalanche.
Pittsburgh at Detroit 7:00 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins boast consecutive shutouts and have a good chance to make it three in a row when they visit the offensively challenged Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night. Tristan Jarry turned aside 33 shots as Pittsburgh beat Arizona 2-0 on Friday, after blanking St. Louis 3-0 on Wednesday, but may give way to Matt Murray in the second of a back-to-back against the slumping Red Wings.
San Jose at Tampa Bay 7:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning are still one of the best offensive teams in the league, but are giving up goals at an alarming rate as they prepare to host the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night. The Lightning entered Friday allowing the sixth-most goals in the league per game after surrendering three in the first period for the second straight home contest Thursday in a 5-4 setback against Minnesota.
Columbus at Florida 7:00 PM ET
The Florida Panthers, who were making a run at first place in the Atlantic Division two weeks ago, look to snap out of a slump as they continue a nine-game homestand Saturday night against the struggling Columbus Blue Jackets. The Panthers, who have lost seven straight against the Blue Jackets, had put together an 11-3-3 run before dropping four of their last five contests and coughed up a two-goal lead in Tuesday’s 4-2 loss to Minnesota.
Minnesota at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
A road-heavy early-season schedule nearly delivered a knockout blow to the Minnesota Wild, who have buried the memory of opening the season with four consecutive losses and 10 defeats in their first 14 games (4-9-1). Minnesota looks to cap a perfect three-game road trip when it vies for its sixth straight win at the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night.
New Jersey at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
Nashville's Kyle Turris responded with a productive performance after being a healthy scratch for seven straight games and hopes to have another when the Predators host P.K. Subban and the New Jersey Devils on Saturday. Turris recorded a goal and an assist, and was 12-4 on faceoffs in Nashville's 3-2 overtime loss to Tampa Bay on Tuesday, and later reflected on his time out of the lineup.
NY Islanders at Dallas 9:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders are seeing night-and-day differences from their recent results at home as opposed to those on the road. After extending their home point streak to 12 games (11-0-1), the Islanders vie for just their second win in six outings on the road on Saturday when they begin a three-game trek against the Dallas Stars.
Los Angeles at Calgary 10:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames seek their fourth straight victory and third since coach Bill Peters resigned when they host the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday. With two games under his belt as Calgary's bench boss, Geoff Ward reworked the lines in an effort to ignite an offense that had scored 12 goals over its previous nine games, and the Flames have responded with a combined seven in wins over Ottawa and Buffalo.
