Preview Roundups
October 16, 2019
Colorado at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The Colorado Avalanche have ignited their high-octane offense to match their second-longest season-opening win streak since the team moved to the Centennial State. The NHL's lone remaining undefeated team, the Avalanche aim for their sixth straight victory to draw even with the 2013-14 club on Wednesday when they continue their six-game road trip against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Toronto at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals are winless (0-1-2) in their first three games at home for the first time since 1983-84 but hope to give their fans reason to cheer when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday. The Capitals gave up four goals in the first 9 minutes, 25 seconds of Monday’s 6-3 loss to Colorado at Capital One Arena and are seeking more consistency to their play.
Dallas at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
After opening the season by absorbing a pair of lopsided defeats, the Columbus Blue Jackets are starting to turn things around with two victories in their last three games, including handing both Buffalo and Carolina their first losses. The Blue Jackets look to post back-to-back wins for the first time when they host the skidding Dallas Stars on Wednesday night.
Philadelphia at Edmonton 9:30 PM ET
With the dreams of a perfect season dashed, the Edmonton Oilers return home to host the weary Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. Edmonton began the season with five come-from-behind victories before concluding its four-game road trip with a 3-1 setback against Chicago on Monday and catches the Flyers on a back-to-back after they fell 3-1 in Calgary on Tuesday.
Buffalo at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
The Buffalo Sabres have yet to lose in regulation and are off to their best start since earning points in eight consecutive games to start their 2008-09 season. Winners of three in a row, the Atlantic Division-leading Sabres will face a difficult task to keep their streak alive when they open a three-game California road trip at the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night.
Carolina at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes bounced back from their first loss of the season with a strong defensive effort in the opener of their four-game road trip. They attempt to continue their impressive start to 2019-20 when they visit the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday.
