Preview Roundups
February 11, 2020
Detroit at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings have had few high points in what has been an otherwise forgettable season, but they will attempt to build on an impressive victory as they prepare to open a four-game road trip at the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. The Red Wings on Sunday joined Colorado as the only team with a pair of regulation victories over the Boston Bruins.
Arizona at Toronto 7:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs are clinging to third place in the Atlantic Division and the playoff berth that goes with it as they host the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday. Toronto has lost three of its last four games, two of three (1-1-1) without No. 1 goaltender Frederik Andersen, and leads fourth-place Florida by two points.
Florida at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The Florida Panthers have dropped out of playoff position in the Eastern Conference after an ill-timed four-game losing streak and look to put a halt to their slide Tuesday night against the host New Jersey Devils. The Panthers had won seven of eight games before the 0-3-1 stretch, in which they have managed five goals, and gave up the final four tallies in a 4-1 setback at Philadelphia on Monday.
Philadelphia at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders will be loaded with much-needed confidence when they host the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday in a key Metropolitan Division game. New York is third in the division after a 5-3 victory at first-place Washington on Monday with Philadelphia - a 4-1 winner over Florida on Monday - one point back in fifth, but in wild-card position.
Tampa Bay at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins look to turn the tables on Tampa Bay and avoid a season series sweep Tuesday when they host the red-hot Lightning in a matchup of teams winning despite injury issues. The Penguins, who have been without their captain, one of the leading scorers and a top-pair defenseman for extended periods - among others this season - go for a 10th victory in 13 games.
Vegas at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Vegas Golden Knights expect to see a familiar face rejoin their lineup on Tuesday when they visit the Minnesota Wild in Saint Paul, Minn. Top-line center William Karlsson is in line to play in his first game in nearly one month -- and first under new coach Peter DeBoer -- since breaking his finger against Buffalo on Jan. 14.
NY Rangers at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers currently have a three-goaltender rotation, but rookie Igor Shesterkin continues to emerge entering Tuesday’s matchup at the Winnipeg Jets. Shesterkin stopped 42-of-43 shots in Sunday’s 4-1 home victory over Los Angeles, and with a 2.34 goals against average and a .933 save percentage while winning five of his first six NHL games, the 24-year-old's performance could reduce playing time for longtime netminder Henrik Lundqvist.
Carolina at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
Sebastian Aho's high-powered offense sure has traveled well, as the 22-year-old Finn carries a five-game goal-scoring streak into the finale of the Carolina Hurricanes' four-game trek against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. Aho has scored six of his career high-tying 30 goals during his sizzling stretch for the Hurricanes.
Ottawa at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
A Central Division title appeared out of reach for Colorado just under a month ago, but the Avalanche have won seven of eight to close within three points of first-place St. Louis with two games in hand. After wrapping up a stellar road trip, the surging Avalanche kick off a five-game homestand against the skidding Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night.
Chicago at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers are only one point out of first place in the cluttered Pacific Division but an injury to their star captain is a reason for major concern. Connor McDavid bruised his left knee in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Nashville and his status is unclear for the finale of a three-game homestand against the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night.
St. Louis at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues capped a sterling 12-2-1 stretch with a 4-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Jan. 13 before dropping seven of their last nine games (2-5-2). The Blues look to get back on track Tuesday when they visit the Ducks, who are returning home after a successful five-game road trip (3-0-2).
