January 18, 2020
Washington at NY Islanders 1:00 PM ET
Alex Ovechkin has ascended up the NHL's scoring ranks at a feverish pace ever since he entered the league, and the three-time Hart Trophy recipient is showing no signs of slowing down. Ovechkin aims to continue his torrid pace on Saturday afternoon when the Washington Capitals visit the New York Islanders at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
St. Louis at Colorado 3:00 PM ET
The defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues will be out for revenge when they visit the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday afternoon. Colorado snapped a six-game series slide with a 7-3 victory over St. Louis on Jan. 2 - the most goals it has yielded this season while absorbing its most lopsided loss, but the Blues lead the second-place Avalanche by 10 points in the Central Division.
Arizona at Edmonton 3:00 PM ET
There's a crowd forming atop the Pacific Division, with five teams separated by a mere two points in the scramble for first place. Two of the teams battling for division supremacy will square off in what will be the final matchup for each until after the All-Star break when the Edmonton Oilers host the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday afternoon.
Calgary at Ottawa 4:00 PM ET
The first-place Calgary Flames conclude their three-game trip through Quebec and Ontario when they play the Ottawa Senators on Saturday afternoon. Calgary, which is in a virtual tie with Arizona in a Pacific Division that features the top five teams separated by two points, bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Montreal on Monday with a 2-1 shootout victory over Toronto on Thursday as goaltender David Rittich stole the show with 35 saves.
Chicago at Toronto 7:00 PM ET
Patrick Kane has enjoyed a decorated career with three Stanley Cup titles as well as a Hart, Conn Smythe and Calder Trophy to his credit. Kane aims to reach a significant milestone Saturday as he resides two points shy of 1,000 for his career entering the Chicago Blackhawks' road game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Vegas at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The Vegas Golden Knights endured an emotional 48 hours midweek following the dismissal of coach Gerard Gallant, but they managed to end a four-game losing streak in Peter DeBoer's debut behind the bench. The Golden Knights will resume an eight-game road trip that sandwiches the All-Star break when they visit the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.
Florida at Detroit 7:00 PM ET
The Florida Panthers hope to continue their offensive surge as they embark on a three-game road trip that leads into the All-Star break, starting with a matchup against the NHL-worst Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night. The Panthers, who also play at Minnesota and Chicago on the trip, have scored 17 times while winning three in a row after holding on for a 4-3 victory over Los Angeles on Thursday.
Los Angeles at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers lowered the boom on three heavyweights recently before getting knocked down by a struggling team in their last contest. The Flyers look to pick themselves off the mat and topple another sputtering club on Saturday when they host the Los Angeles Kings.
New Jersey at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets have pushed their way into playoff position in the Eastern Conference and look to continue moving up when they host the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night. The Blue Jackets have earned at least a point in 17 of their last 19 games (13-2-4) with last season’s leading goal scorer Cam Atkinson scoring once and setting up another in Thursday’s 3-2 victory over Carolina after missing almost a month with an ankle injury.
Buffalo at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Buffalo Sabres look to steam into the All-Star break with a four-game winning streak when they finish a quick road trip against the struggling Nashville Predators on Saturday night. The Sabres have won five of seven to slide back into contention in the Eastern Conference playoff chase and allowed four goals in the past three games after shutting the door at Dallas in the final 20 minutes of a 4-1 victory Thursday.
Dallas at Minnesota 9:00 PM ET
Dallas and Minnesota each got off to miserable starts this season, but the Stars have managed to put it behind them while climbing into a tie for a second place in the Central Division. In their final game before the All-Star break, Dallas bids to extend its point streak to seven straight versus the Wild on Saturday night in Minnesota.
San Jose at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
In a Pacific Division where two points separate first place from fifth, the Vancouver Canucks know that every game is crucial if they plan on making their first playoff appearance since 2014-15. The surging Canucks have won seven in a row on home ice - the longest active home win streak in the NHL - and will host the San Jose Sharks on Saturday in the last game for both teams before the All-Star break.
