Preview Roundups
November 12, 2018
Detroit Mercy at Butler 6:30 PM ET
Kamar Baldwin was named to the All-Big East preseason first team and certainly made the league coaches look smart in his season opener. Baldwin aims to lead Butler to another win Monday when the team hosts Detroit Mercy in non-league action.
Stanford at North Carolina 7:00 PM ET
Cam Johnson told reporters he felt like he was “in a good place” during the first two games while leading the way for North Carolina and the swingman looks to continue his hot start when the Tar Heels host Stanford on Monday night. Johnson connected on 7-of-10 shots from 3-point range and averaged 19 points as seventh-ranked North Carolina earned a pair of road victories to open the season.
No.Carolina A&T at Maryland 7:00 PM ET
Maryland looks to extend its season-opening winning streak to three games when it hosts winless North Carolina A&T on Monday evening. The Terrapins tipped off their season with a win over Delaware and followed up with a 78-57 victory over Navy on Saturday.
Jacksonville St. at Penn St. 7:00 PM ET

With Tony Carr departed for professional basketball and Mike Watkins suspended indefinitely, Lamar Stevens, Penn State's only remaining star sophomore from a season ago, must pick up the slack.  The 6-8 junior did more than that in the opener against North Florida and will look to lead the way again Monday when Jacksonville State visits Happy Valley.

Troy at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET

With virtually a brand new team from a season ago, Pittsburgh first-year coach Jeff Capel understands it will take time for his young squad to learn how to play college basketball in perhaps the toughest conference in the land. However, the Panthers appear to be willing learners after two games, and they will shoot for a third straight win when they host Troy on Monday as part of the Barclays Center Classic.

Austin Peay at South Florida 7:00 PM ET
South Florida received an education from the season opener and will try to show some progress when it goes for two in a row against visiting Austin Peay of the Ohio Valley Conference on Monday night. The Bulls were sloppy with the ball and trailed Alabama A&M early in the second half Tuesday before rolling to an 80-63 victory as top returnees David Collins and Justin Brown combined for 33 points.
UC Davis at Arkansas 8:00 PM ET

Arkansas aims to win its 45th consecutive home opener when it hosts UC Davis on Monday. The matchup is part of the Hardwood Showcase and marks the second meeting between the programs.

Louisiana Monroe at Texas 8:00 PM ET
Texas senior Kerwin Roach II was the hero Friday in his season debut with a late 3-pointer that forced overtime - and an eventual neutral-site win - against Arkansas after a sloppy second half. The Longhorns will try to get their offense back on track when they host Louisiana Monroe on Monday night.
Oklahoma at Texas-San Antonio 8:00 PM ET
Oklahoma finishes its two-game season-opening road trip through Texas on Monday night when the Sooners take on Texas San Antonio. Oklahoma will look to make it two straight victories to start its season after getting past Texas Rio Grande Valley 91-76 on Friday night.
Prairie View A&M at Baylor 8:00 PM ET
Baylor hopes to build on its much-improved offense Monday when the Bears host Prairie View A&M - their third straight opponent from the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Bears lost to Texas Southern and trailed Southern before the offense came alive late Saturday.
Texas Southern at Iowa State 8:00 PM ET

Iowa State looks to continue its impressive start to the season when it hosts Texas Southern on Monday as part of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational. The Cyclones have won their first two games by an average of 21.5 points.

American U. at Northwestern 8:00 PM ET
Northwestern looks to build on an impressive performance in its season opener when it hosts American on Monday. The Wildcats routed New Orleans 82-52 to extend their winning streak to 11 games on opening nights and hope to keep rolling as they search for their seventh consecutive nonconference home victory.
Morgan St. at DePaul 8:30 PM ET
The competition is sure to get tougher in the coming days, but DePaul must still take care of business Monday in its non-conference game against visiting Morgan State. The Blue Demons got the season started on the right foot with a blowout win against Bethune-Cookman and will try to do the same against the Bears, who have already lost twice by 20 or more points.
Denver at Kansas State 9:00 PM ET
No. 11 Kansas State rode a strong defense to the Elite Eight last season, holding opponents to 42.5 percent shooting and 67 points per game. The Wildcats, who return four starters from that squad - including Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year Dean Wade, showed no signs of a drop-off defensively in their season-opening win over Kennesaw State but will be focused on improving offensively in Monday's contest against visiting Denver.
Utah at Minnesota 9:00 PM ET
Two teams looking to move to 2-0 on the season will match up in a non-conference affair Monday night when Utah travels to face Minnesota. The Utes opened the season with a 75-61 victory over Maine on Thursday, while the Golden Gophers routed Omaha in their season opener on Tuesday.
Vermont at Kansas 9:00 PM ET
Fresh off a marquee victory to open the season, No. 1 Kansas takes a step down in competition Monday when it hosts Vermont. The Jayhawks topped No. 10 Michigan State in their opener behind a pair of newcomers who hope to ride the momentum into Monday's contest.
Long Beach St. at Arizona State 9:00 PM ET
Arizona State’s Luguentz Dort will look to continue a hot start to his freshman campaign as the Sun Devils play host to Long Beach State on Monday night. Dort followed up his 28-point debut with 25 on Friday, helping the Sun Devils rout McNeese State 80-52.
San Diego at Washington 11:00 PM ET
Following a road trip to Auburn that began with an ugly loss and ended with the team bus catching on fire, No. 24 Washington looks for a fresh start Monday against visiting San Diego. The Huskies escaped unscathed from the fire but were humbled by Friday’s 88-66 loss to Auburn, which dominated the boards and led by 18 points at halftime.
