Preview Roundups
January 05, 2020
New York at L.A. Clippers 3:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Clippers will try to rebound from a dismal home loss when they host the New York Knicks on Sunday. Playing without star forward Paul George (hamstring), the Clippers suffered a 140-114 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday - their worst defensive scoring effort since Oct. 30, 2017 - to fall to 5-5 over their last 10 games.
Portland at Miami 6:00 PM ET
Although their defense saved them in one of the games, the Miami Heat have put together some of their worst offensive efforts in the past week. They'll try to find their rhythm on that end of the floor when they host the Portland Trail Blazers and old friend Hassan Whiteside on Sunday.
Minnesota at Cleveland 7:30 PM ET
The Minnesota Timberwolves are managing to pick up some victories despite a rash of physical issues, and they'll aim for their first winning streak since before Thanksgiving when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. Behind 20 points apiece from Robert Covington and Shabazz Napier, the Timberwolves picked up a 99-84 win over Golden State on Thursday.
Memphis at Phoenix 8:00 PM ET
Red-hot Devin Booker attempts to make history and his Phoenix Suns go after a fourth win in five games when they continue their homestand Sunday night against the improving Memphis Grizzlies. Booker matched the franchise record set by Charlie Scott (twice) and Charles Barkley of five straight games with at least 30 points when he scored 38 as the Suns rallied for a 120-112 victory over the New York Knicks on Friday.
Detroit at L.A. Lakers 10:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Lakers will try to stay perfect on their current homestand and extend their winning streak to five games in a row when they host the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. Behind 46 points and 13 rebounds from Anthony Davis, the Lakers improved to 3-0 on the five-game homestand with a 123-113 win over New Orleans on Friday.
