Preview Roundups
April 06, 2019
Kansas City at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers are one of the surprises of the first week of the season with a solid start to a campaign that figures to serve as a rebuilding year. The Tigers will try to accelerate the building process and push their winning streak to four in a row when they host the Kansas City Royals on Saturday in the second contest of a three-game series.
Washington at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
The National League East could be a four-team race all season, and the New York Mets believe they are the team to beat. The Washington Nationals, who spoiled the Mets' home opener Thursday, will try to prove they are the class of the East when the teams meet for the second contest of a three-game series Saturday.
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh 1:35 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds have been shut out three straight times as they look to halt a six-game losing streak when they visit the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday afternoon. The offensive issues continued when Pittsburgh posted a 2-0 win on Friday, marking the fourth time Cincinnati has been blanked during its skid.
Minnesota at Philadelphia 2:05 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies tore up another starting pitcher in the series opener and look to repeat the feat against one coming off a major injury when they continue their three-game set against the visiting Minnesota Twins on Saturday afternoon. Jake Odorizzi retired only two batters before exiting as Minnesota was pounded 10-4 on Friday.
Seattle at Chi. White Sox 2:10 PM ET
When the Chicago White Sox traded ace left-hander Chris Sale to the Boston Red Sox in December 2016, they received four prospects. Third baseman Yoan Moncada appeared to have the most potential among the quartet, and this could be the year it is realized as Chicago hosts the Seattle Mariners on Saturday in the second contest of their three-game series.
San Diego at St. Louis 2:15 PM ET
The San Diego Padres started their longest road trip of the season by spoiling the home opener for the St. Louis Cardinals, who look to even the three-game series when the teams meet again Saturday afternoon. Following a 4-3 homestand to start the season, the Padres picked up a 5-3 win Friday afternoon to begin their 10-game trip, with Fernando Tatis Jr. and Hunter Renfroe both slugging two-run homers.
Texas at LA Angels 4:05 PM ET
Mike Trout single-handedly ended his team's six-game slide and now the Los Angeles Angels look to follow up with another win when they host the Texas Rangers on Saturday afternoon. Trout slugged two solo shots on Friday for the 15th multi-homer performance of his career as the Angels posted a 3-1 victory.
Tampa Bay at San Francisco 4:05 PM ET
Most major-league teams find a way to consistently win games in which they allow two runs or fewer, and the Tampa Bay Rays have been able to stymie the opposition in each of their last seven contests. The Rays attempt to hold an eighth straight opponent at or below that benchmark Saturday when they visit San Francisco for the second of three interleague games against the Giants.
Toronto at Cleveland 4:10 PM ET
Carlos Santana is enjoying his return to Cleveland and the slugger will look to continue his hot start with the bat when the Indians host the Toronto Blue Jays for the third contest of a four-game set Saturday afternoon. Santana, who was reacquired in the offseason after spending one year in Philadelphia, is 10-for-24 with six RBIs after his walk-off solo homer in the ninth inning Friday gave Cleveland a 3-2 victory.
NY Yankees at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees have been ravaged by injuries early on, but still have plenty of power in their lineup. After socking four home runs to spoil the home opener for the Baltimore Orioles, the Yankees hope to continue to swing the bats when the teams continue their three-game series Saturday night at Camden Yards.
Oakland at Houston 7:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros are attempting to overcome a slow start and look to defeat the Oakland Athletics for the second straight night when they host their American League West rivals on Saturday. Houston dropped five of its previous six games before winning the series opener 3-2 on Friday.
Chi. Cubs at Milwaukee 7:10 PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers got off to a red-hot start on the strength of solid pitching, but now their offense has joined the party. The Brewers will try for their seventh consecutive victory when they host the struggling Chicago Cubs for the second of a three-game series Saturday.

Miami at Atlanta 7:20 PM ET
Ronald Acuna Jr. tormented Miami pitching en route to winning National League Rookie of the Year last season, and the Atlanta Braves star outfielder enters Saturday’s home contest against the Marlins continuing that domination. Acuna carries a career .338 average against the Marlins into Saturday after belting a two-run homer to jump start the Braves offense in Friday’s series-opening 4-0 victory, the eighth homer by the 21-year-old against the Marlins in 20 career games.
Boston at Arizona 8:10 PM ET
The reigning World Series champion Boston Red Sox hope to begin digging themselves out of a hole that keeps getting deeper when they visit the Arizona Diamondbacks for the second contest of a three-game interleague series Saturday night. Boston (2-7) owns a bloated 7.18 team ERA in the early going after falling behind by 13 runs and settling for a 15-8 loss in Arizona’s home opener Friday.
LA Dodgers at Colorado 8:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the opener of their three-game set against the Colorado Rockies leading the majors in homers, making it unlikely a weekend trip to Coors Field would slow down their powerful bats. Cody Bellinger and the Dodgers attempt to extend several franchise records Saturday when they visit the Rockies for the second game of the series.
