Kyle Palmieri and Anders Lee scored in the final half-minute of the first period Sunday night for the host New York Islanders, who tied a season high by winning their third straight game with a 4-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

Palmieri finished with two goals while Zach Parise added a goal for the Islanders, who have won three straight games on three occasions this season. Goalie Ilya Sorokin made 39 saves as New York finished 4-2-0 on a six-game homestand.

Josh Manson, Isac Lundestrom and Adam Henrique scored for the Ducks, who have lost the first four games of a five-game road trip (0-3-1) and remained four points behind the Vegas Golden Knights in the race for the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Goalie John Gibson recorded 25 saves.

The Islanders went ahead just 2:18 into the first when Mathew Barzal picked off a no-look pass by Manson from behind the Ducks' net and tried shooting between his legs as his momentum carried him past Gibson. The puck was skittering towards the net when Parise got a stick on it in the crease.

Manson made amends just before the midway point of the period, when he dished to Buddy Robinson, whose shot was turned back by Sorokin before Manson put in the rebound with 10:12 left.

The Islanders produced their decisive 1-2 punch late in the period. Palmieri's shot over the stick-side shoulder of Gibson put New York ahead 2-1 with 28.2 seconds left. Anthony Beauvillier then intercepted a pass by Vinni Lettieri in the neutral zone to begin the sequence that ended with Lee -- battling for position with Kevin Shattenkirk -- redirecting a shot by Ryan Pulock with 3.3 seconds remaining.

Lundestrom won a 4-on-4 faceoff with Jean-Gabriel Pageau before redirecting a shot by Hampus Lindholm with 5:37 left in the second. But Palmeiri again gave the Islanders a two-goal lead when he fired a shot beyond the stick of Gibson with 2:35 remaining.

With Gibson pulled for the extra skater, Henrique scored with 1:44 left. But the Islanders hemmed the Ducks into their zone for most of the next minute and Anaheim didn't mount a serious threat the rest of the way.
