Leon Draisaitl scored a pair of goals just over three minutes apart in the third period as the Edmonton Oilers rallied past the host Boston Bruins for a 5-3 win on Thursday night.

Draisaitl was in the right place at the right time to capitalize on Brandon Carlo's giveaway in the slot and wristed the tying goal past Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark at the 6:22 mark.

Draisaitl's league-leading 12th goal of the season put the Oilers in front 4-3 three minutes and four seconds later after setting up in front of the crease and tipping in Cody Ceci's pass from the right circle.

The All-Star center entered play tied with teammate Connor McDavid for the NHL lead in points with 23.

Ceci scored at 17:41 of the period to put the game out of reach. Evan Bouchard and Zach Hyman also scored for Edmonton, which won its fifth straight game and has won 10 of its first 12 games this season.

Oilers goalie Mikko Koskinen recorded 26 saves to improve to 8-1-0 on the season.

Brad Marchand scored his team-leading sixth goal, David Pastrnak netted his fourth and Brandon Carlo also lit the lamp for the Bruins. Ullmark stopped just 23 of 28 shots and dropped to 3-3-0 on the season.

Boston had won three of its last four games coming in and six of 10 overall.

Pastrnak put the Bruins on the board 4:45 into the opening period, but Bouchard's tally shortly thereafter tied it at 1-1 at the 5:29 mark.

Marchand restore Boston's lead with his goal 5:06 into the second, only to have Hyman score 24 seconds later to make it 2-2. Carlo's goal at the 17:14 mark of the middle period gave the Bruins a 3-2 advantage entering the third.

Before the game, the teams came together to honor late NHL forward Colby Cave in a pregame ceremony. Cave played for both the Bruins and Oilers and died as a result of a brain bleed on April 11, 2020. Cave's wife, Emily, was in attendance and dropped a ceremonial first puck.
