Vincent Trocheck scored his first two goals as the Carolina Hurricanes remained unblemished, winning their fourth game of the season by defeating the host Columbus Blue Jackets 5-1 on Saturday night.
Trocheck also had an assist, while Jordan Staal provided a goal and an assist and Andrei Svechnikov supplied two assists.
Jesper Fast and Trocheck got the Hurricanes off to a fast start with first-period goals, and goalie Frederik Andersen ended up with 27 saves. Sebastian Aho scored in the third period for Carolina's third power-play goal of the game.
Andersen has played in each of Carolina's games. The Hurricanes have won their past three games on the road and now are set for a four-game homestand.
Boone Jenner scored for the Blue Jackets, who've struggled on the offensive end since posting eight goals in the season opener. They have a total of five goals in regulation across their past five games.
Goalie Joonas Korpisalo made 28 saves for Columbus.
Jenner's fourth goal of the season came on a 5-on-3 power play and allowed the Blue Jackets to close within 2-1 in the second period.
But before the end of the period, Staal notched his first goal of the season. Staal and Trocheck have each provided three assists this season.
Carolina held a 24-19 edge in shots through two periods, but the Blue Jackets perked up at times in the third period. But they trailed by three goals when they failed to convert on a power play that expired with about six minutes remaining.
About two minutes later, Trocheck posted his second goal of the game.
Andersen stopped all nine shots he faced in the third period.
Fast opened the scoring just 7:11 into the game with his third tally of the season.
The Hurricanes and Blue Jackets have been frequent opponents. Carolina held a 5-1-2 upper hand in eight meetings last season.
