Auston Matthews and Wayne Simmonds scored two goals each, Mitchell Marner had three assists and the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the visiting Vancouver Canucks 5-1 Saturday night for their second consecutive win.

Zach Hyman added a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs, and Mikko Lehtonen had two assists.

The Maple Leafs won the opener of the three-game series 7-3 on Thursday. The third game is Monday.

Brock Boeser scored for the Canucks, who have lost four in a row and are 1-4-0 with one game left on a six-game road trip.

Frederik Andersen made 27 saves for Toronto.

Braden Holtby made 26 saves for Vancouver.

Toronto led 2-0 after the first period and had a 9-7 advantage in shots on goal.

Simmonds scored at 4:42 on a power play, shooting high from the left side of the net after taking Marner's pass. Alexander Edler was serving a slashing penalty. Marner has points in seven consecutive games.

Matthews scored at 14:04 after he pounced on a loose puck, beat a defender and fired a forehand shot from six feet. Matthews has scored in each of the past seven games. He has eight goals in 10 career games against Vancouver.

Vancouver's Elias Pettersson hit the crossbar at 17:44, two seconds after a Toronto penalty had expired.

Hyman scored his third of the season at 7:36 of the second, converting a pass to the goalmouth from Lehtonen.

Vancouver's J.T. Miller slapped a puck past Andersen at 14:46 of the second, but a video review determined that the play was offside and there was no goal.

The Maple Leafs had a 23-17 advantage in shots on goal after the second period.

Matthews took advantage of a turnover to score his 10th of the season from close range at 1:28 of the third period. It gave him his second consecutive two-goal game.

Simmonds deflected Lehtonen's shot at 3:16 for his fifth goal of the season.

Boeser scored on a power play at 17:56 of the third. Jake Muzzin was off for hooking.
