Tyler Bertuzzi scored 15 seconds into overtime and the host Detroit Red Wings avenged a one-goal loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets the previous day with a 3-2 victory on Tuesday.

Dylan Larkin carried the puck into the Blue Jackets' zone and blasted a shot from the right circle. Goaltender Elvis Merzlikins made the save but the rebound bounced off Bertuzzi's thigh and into the net.

That was Bertuzzi's first goal of the young season.

Bobby Ryan scored his fourth goal in three games for the Red Wings. Anthony Mantha had the other Detroit goal, while Jonathan Bernier made 22 saves.

Boone Jenner and Alexandre Texier scored for the Blue Jackets. Merzlikins made 24 saves.

Detroit won 64.3 percent of the faceoffs in the victory.

Jenner broke the scoreless deadlock 1:38 into the second period. He ripped a shot from the left circle that eluded Bernier's glove.

David Savard got the play started with a pass from his own zone and Max Domi brought the puck into Red Wings territory before sliding it to Jenner.

With Columbus' Pierre-Luc Dubois in the penalty box for hooking Filip Zadina, Mantha tied it up at 3:37 of the period. Larkin fired a shot from the left circle that deflected off Bertuzzi's skate and onto Mantha's stick at the right circle. Merzlikins had no chance to recover as Mantha scored his first goal this season.

Detroit took the lead at the 14:17 mark of the period. Jon Merrill's shot from the point was blocked but Ryan collected the loose puck on the right side and his shot deflected off a defender's stick and over Merzlikins' left shoulder. Frans Nielsen got the second assist.

Columbus tied it at 2-all at 5:04 of the third when Texier took a shot from the point that bounced off a defender's skate and into the net. Dean Kukan and Oliver Bjorkstrand were credited with assists. Detroit challenged the goal, claiming goalie interference, and lost.

That resulted in a bench minor but Detroit killed off the penalty.
