Gabriel Landeskog scored 2:32 into overtime, and the Colorado Avalanche saved their season by beating the San Jose Sharks 4-3 in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals in Denver on Monday night.

J.T. Compher had two goals and an assist, Tyson Jost also had a goal, and Philipp Grubauer made 19 saves for the Avalanche.

Colorado will play in its 11th Game 7, slated for Wednesday night in San Jose, since moving to Denver in 1995. The Avalanche are 4-6 in Game 7s.

The Avalanche moved to 3-0 in overtime during this postseason.

Defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic had two goals, Brent Burns also scored, and Martin Jones stopped 22 shots for the Sharks.

San Jose is 7-4 all-time in Game 7 matches, including a victory one round earlier when the Sharks beat the Vegas Golden Knights.

Landeskog got the winner when Cale Makar kept the puck in the zone and allowed Landeskog to beat Jones for his third goal of the playoffs.

The game was tied after two periods, but Colorado went ahead early in the third when Derick Brassard fed Compher in front, and Compher went to his backhand to beat Jones four minutes in. It was his fourth of the playoffs.

The Sharks tied it when Vlasic's shot went in off the skate of Colorado defenseman Nikita Zadorov with 2:28 left. It was Vlasic's third of the postseason.

The Avalanche took three one-goal leads, the first of which came early in the second period. Jost got behind the San Jose defense, Compher fed him with a crossing pass, and Jost tipped it over Jones at 4:05.

It was his second goal of the playoffs.

The Sharks got even later in the second period. Timo Meier drove hard to the net with the puck, but Grubauer made the initial save. The rebound went to Vlasic, who knocked it in at 14:36.

Jones made a couple of big saves to keep it tied until Compher's blast from the point at 18:44 of the second gave Colorado a 2-1 lead. The Sharks got even when Burns scored with 10 seconds left in the middle period to make it 2-2.

It was Burns' fifth goal and 12th point of the postseason, tied with teammate Erik Karlsson for most points by a defenseman in the postseason.
