Mark Giordano scored a goal and added an assist to reach a career high for points in a season as the host Calgary Flames showed off their scoring depth in a 5-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes on Monday afternoon.

Goalie Mike Smith made 27 saves for the Flames, who have won two straight games to maintain their hold on top spot in the Western Conference. Giordano, the club's 35-year-old captain and Norris Trophy contender, now has 57 points on the season, one more than he produced in 2015-16.

Rookie defenseman Rasmus Andersson, who took a spot on the top pairing due to an injury that sidelined TJ Brodie, collected a pair of assists.

All four Flames' forward lines had a hand in a goal in the victory that kicked off a three-game homestand.

The fourth line was first to hit the scoresheet when Derek Ryan opened the scoring 94 seconds into the affair with a nifty redirect of Giordano's point shot.

Arizona's Conor Garland tied the game at 6:27 of the second period with a top-shelf backhand, but Giordano restored his team's lead. He drove with the puck from his point position, working to the front of the net and then finishing a deke for his 13th goal of the season at 11:20 of the middle period.

Jordan Weal again pulled the visitors even with a power-play goal at 14:21 of the second period, his first goal in 26 games, but Austin Czarnik put the Flames ahead a third time 2:26 later -- netting his second goal in as many games even though his stick snapped on the shot.

Michael Frolik provided some much-needed insurance nearly six minutes into the third period with another nifty goal. Frolik took a pass on an odd-man rush, headed to the doorstep and lifted a forehand for his 13th goal of the season.

Mikael Backlund iced the game with an empty-net goal with 72 seconds remaining. Frolik collected an assist. Elias Lindholm also carded two assists, giving him two goal and six assists in a five-game point streak.

Calvin Pickard stopped 28 shots for the Coyotes, who have lost two of three games.
