Pius Suter, Elmer Soderblom and Michael Rasmussen each scored for Detroit.

Trailing 2-1 going into the third period, the Red Wings scored three goals in a span of 1:55 to take a 4-2 lead.

First, Raymond tied the game at 2-2 with 18:42 remaining when he tipped in a point shot from Olli Maatta.

Then, Soderblom gave Detroit a 3-2 lead with 17:24 left when he fired a shot from the edge of the left faceoff circle over the glove of Ottawa goalie Cam Talbot.

With 16:47 remaining, Rasmussen gave Detroit a 4-2 lead when he stole the puck from Talbot behind the net and wrapped the puck into the open goal.

Ottawa opened the scoring with 9:24 remaining in the first period on a goal by Watson, who fired a wrist shot from in between the faceoff circles that got past Detroit goalie Magnus Hellberg.

The Senators then took a 2-0 lead with 4:33 left in the first when Giroux fired an innocent-looking backhand from the left faceoff circle that went off the shoulder of Hellberg and dribbled into the net.

Detroit got on the board with 11:18 remaining in the second period when Suter pounced on a loose puck in between the faceoff circles and fired it in to make it 2-1 Senators.

Hellberg made 21 saves for Detroit, while Talbot also stopped 21 shots for Ottawa.
