Evander Kane scored twice as the San Jose Sharks made a late-game push to defeat the visiting Los Angeles Kings 4-2, sweeping a two-game series between the clubs.

Rudolfs Balcers and Tomas Hertl also scored for San Jose, and Brent Burns notched two assists. Sharks goalie Martin Jones had another impressive start, making 42 saves to improve to 3-0-1 in his past four outings.

Alex Iafallo and Adrian Kempe produced Los Angeles' goals while Drew Doughty registered two assists. Calvin Petersen stopped 24 shots in the loss.

The first period had a great pace to it despite neither team scoring. Los Angeles posted a 13-6 edge in shots on goal over the opening 20 minutes. Both teams successfully killed off two penalties, continuing a trend started in Monday night's game, which featured no power-play goals.

Balcers broke up the stalemate at the 2:14 mark of the second period. He broke up the ice, passed the puck cross-ice to Marcus Sorensen, then got it back right in front of net to slap it behind Petersen.

The Sharks added to their lead at 13:39 of the second with an odd-man rush in the offensive zone. Kevin Labanc and Burns set Kane, who put a shot over Petersen's right shoulder for a 2-0 advantage.

With 12.4 seconds left in the middle period, Iafallo redirected a Dustin Brown shot up over Jones' left shoulder to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Kane scored his second on the evening and team-high-tying 14th of the season just 21 seconds into the third period. He deflected Mario Ferraro's shot from the blue line into the net and made it 3-1 Sharks.

Both teams had barely regrouped when Hertl wristed in his own goal and give San Jose a 4-1 advantage at 1:43.

Kempe got one back for the Kings as he deposited a feed from Doughty to cut the margin to 4-2 at 4:27, but the visitors were unable to pull any closer.
