Canadiens 4, Maple Leafs 2: Max Pacioretty scored two goals and set up another while Carey Price stopped 34 shots as host Montreal extended its point streak to six games.

Pacioretty's second two-goal performance in the last four games was the difference for the Canadiens, who are 5-0-1 since suffering a 1-0 loss to the New York Rangers two weeks ago. Defenseman P.K. Subban had a goal and an assist while Tomas Plekanec added a second-period tally.

James van Riemsdyk and Mason Raymond scored late in the second period for Toronto, which has dropped four straight games. Jonathan Bernier made 35 saves in defeat.

Subban was in on both Montreal goals during a dominant first period. His 100-foot pass sprung Pacioretty for an opening-minute power-play goal, and he doubled the lead with 3:47 remaining, weaving into the high slot and snapping a shot past Bernier's blocker for his first goal in 13 games.

The Canadiens made it 4-0 as Plekanec and Pacioretty tallied 2:17 apart in the latter stages of the second period. The Maple Leafs countered in short order as van Riemsdyk and Raymond struck in a 22-second span to halve the deficit, but Toronto couldn't convert any of its 12 third-period shots as it fell for the third time in the last four meetings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The home team won for just the third time in their last 11 encounters. ... Subban's goal was his first in 18 career games versus the Maple Leafs. ... Toronto has allowed 19 goals during its losing streak.
