SENATORS 6, JETS 4: Captain Daniel Alfredsson scored twice - with the latter tally snapping a tie with 2:33 remaining in the third period - as visiting Ottawa damaged Winnipeg's postseason aspirations.

Fellow All-Star Milan Michalek, Chris Neil, Kaspars Daugavins and Kyle Turris also tallied for the Senators, who moved to within three points of idle Boston for the Northeast Division lead.

All-Star defenseman Erik Karlsson notched three assists and Craig Anderson stopped 44 shots - in addition to a penalty shot in the third period - to preserve the win.

Antti Miettinen tallied twice and Evander Kane and Kyle Wellwood also scored for the Jets, who fell for the fourth time in five games. Winnipeg remained six points shy of eighth place in the Eastern Conference with six games remaining.

Just 24 seconds after Kane leveled the contest at 4-4, Alfredsson cleaned up a rebound off defenseman Filip Kuba's shot from the point for his second goal of the night.

After Anderson denied Wellwood on a penalty shot 1:34 into the third period, Alfredsson gave Ottawa a 4-3 lead 80 seconds later. Karlsson intercepted Winnipeg's attempted feed through the middle of the ice and promptly set up Alfredsson, who beat Ondrej Pavelec from in close.

Kane leveled the contest after the puck deflected off his shoulder and into the net for his 29th goal.

GAME NOTEBOOK: All-Star Jason Spezza, who had two assists, hit the 80-point plateau for the fourth time in his career. ... Pavelec, who made his 12th straight start, turned aside 29 shots. ... Miettinen has four goals in his last five games.
