LIGHTNING 4, HURRICANES 3 (OT): Steven Stamkos scored his second goal of the game on the power play 2:41 into overtime as visiting Tampa Bay defeated Carolina for its fourth straight victory.

Teddy Purcell, who scored on a 5-on-3 power play to tie the contest at 3-3, set up Stamkos for the winner. Stamkos now has a league-leading 47 goals this season.

The Lightning moved within two points of the eighth-place Winnipeg Jets in the Eastern Conference.

Brandon Sutter was in the penalty box for bowling over Lightning goalie Mathieu Garon 1:05 into overtime.

Purcell extended his point streak to a career-high nine games as the Lightning earned their league-best eighth victory after trailing through two periods.

Tim Wallace recorded his first career goal 5:58 into the game for Tampa Bay.

Wallace, who was recently acquired on waivers from the New York Islanders, was playing in his 58th NHL game.

Anthony Stewart scored two goals as Carolina turned a deficit into a 3-1 lead in the second period. Jussi Jokinen had the other tally and captain Eric Staal assisted on two of them to extend his point streak to 11 games, matching a career high.

Stamkos brought Tampa Bay within 3-2 with two minutes left in the second. He has four overtime winners this season.
