Teddy Bridgewater threw two touchdown passes in his first start in place of Drew Brees as the visiting New Orleans Saints defeated the Seattle Seahawks 33-27 on Sunday.

Bridgewater was making his second NFL start since the 2015 season as he fills in for Brees, who is expected to miss about six weeks after undergoing thumb surgery last week. The former Pro Bowl quarterback completed 19 of 27 passes for 177 yards. He hit running back Alvin Kamara on a 29-yard touchdown in the second quarter and wide receiver Michael Thomas from 1 yard out in the third.

The Saints defense and special teams each contributed a touchdown as New Orleans improved to 2-1. It was just the third time in New Orleans history that the team scored a touchdown in all three phases in the same game.

Kamara finished with 69 rushing yards, including a 1-yard touchdown, and 92 receiving yards.

Russell Wilson completed 32 of 50 passes for 406 yards and two touchdowns for the Seahawks (2-1). He also ran for two scores.

The Saints led 20-7 at halftime and on the first possession of the second half drove 75 yards, increasing taking a 27-7 lead on Bridgewater's scoring pass to Thomas on fourth-and-goal.

Wilson ran 2 yards for a touchdown that pulled Seattle within 27-14 with 11:51 remaining in the game.

After Wilson threw an incompletion on fourth-and-1 at the Seahawks' 28, Kamara ran it in from a yard out to make it 33-14 with 4:19 remaining.

Wilson, who rushed seven times for 51 yards, added an 8-yard touchdown run with 2:48 left and a 4-yard touchdown pass to tight end Will Dissly with no time left.

The Saints took a 7-0 lead before the offense took the field as rookie Deonte Harris returned a punt 53 yards for a touchdown 2:54 into the game.

The Seahawks tied the score later in the quarter when Wilson threw an 8-yard touchdown to Tyler Lockett, who finished with 11 receptions for 154 yards -- both career highs.

New Orleans regained the lead again without the offense scoring when Vonn Bell picked up a Chris Carson fumble and ran 33 yards for a touchdown. The score stayed 13-7 when Wil Lutz missed the extra point.

The 29-yard touchdown pass from Bridgewater to Kamara late in the second to give the Saints the 20-7 halftime lead.
