Packers 42, Texans 17: Aaron Rodgers exploded for 338 yards and a franchise record-tying six touchdowns - three of them to Jordy Nelson - as visiting Green Bay emphatically handed Houston its first loss of the season.

Rodgers pulverized a vaunted Houston defense that had only allowed six passing touchdowns all season. The defending league MVP completed 24 of 37 passes, with James Jones hauling in a pair of TD catches and Tim Crabtree adding a long scoring strike for the Packers (3-3).

Matt Schaub went 20-for-33 for 232 yards and two interceptions for the Texans (5-1) while Arian Foster had a pair of short touchdown runs but was largely neutralized.

Rodgers connected with Nelson down the right sideline for a 41-yard scoring strike to open the scoring, then extended the lead with a 6-yard TD pass to Jones in the final minute of the opening quarter. A costly pass interference call on Houston's next possession set the stage for Foster's 1-yard TD plunge that cut the deficit in half.

Rodgers and Nelson hooked up on a 21-yard scoring strike near the midway point of the second quarter, and they connected again from 1 yard out with 8:22 remaining in the third to make it 28-10. Foster's second 1-yard score of the game trimmed the gap late in the quarter, but Rodgers found Crabtree on a 48-yard TD strike on the first play of the fourth to effectively put the game away.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Houston wideout Andre Johnson racked up 75 receiving yards to become the sixth-fastest in league history to reach 10,000 for his career. Johnson needed just 128 games to reach the mark. ... The Texans, who came into the game averaging 143 rushing yards per game, managed just 90 against the Packers - more than half of which came in garbage time. Foster finished with 17 carries for 29 yards. ... Already missing nose tackle B.J. Raji (ankle), the Packers lost starting linebackers D.J. Smith and Nick Perry to knee injuries. Running back Brandon Saine (knee) and defensive back Sam Shields (shin) also went down and did not return.
