No. 3 Ohio State withstood a late charge by No. 9 Indiana to defeat the Hoosiers 42-35 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Saturday.

Ohio State (4-0, 4-0 Big Ten) quarterback Justin Fields was 18-for-30 passing for 300 yards and two TDs and his first three-interception game, while Master Teague ran for 169 yards on 26 carries and two scores. Fields also ran for 78 yards and a TD.

Indiana (4-1, 4-1) was led by quarterback Michael Penix, who was 27 for 51 for 491 yards, five touchdowns and an interception.

Penix's lone interception resulted in Shaun Wade's 36-yard return for a touchdown to give Ohio State a 42-21 lead at the end of the third quarter. But Penix recovered to throw a 16-yard TD pass to David Ellis early in the fourth quarter to pull the Hoosiers to within 42-28.

Penix then went 56 yards to Ty Fryfogle on the next possession to make it 42-35. Fryfogle had seven catches for 218 yards and three TDs.

The Hoosiers had 10 passing plays of 15 or more yards, including 68, 63, 51 and 33 yards. However, they rushed for minus-1 yard for the game.

Fields who had as many touchdowns as incompletions in the first three games (11), threw his first three interceptions of the season and was sacked five times.

Indiana, which entered the game leading the Big Ten and ranked fourth nationally with 10 interceptions, picked off Fields twice in the first quarter.

The Hoosiers tied it at 7 early in the second quarter when Penix passed 68 yards to Miles Marshall followed by a 4-yard TD pass to Whop Philyor.

Teague's 41-yard TD run made it 14-7 for the Buckeyes with 8:57 left in the first half. Teague added a 2-yard TD to make it 21-7 a play after Fields scrambled for 30 yards.

Indiana was driving late in the second quarter before linebacker Baron Browning recovered a fumble at the Ohio State 7. The Buckeyes went 93 yards, capped by Fields' 9-yard run for a 28-7 score with 17 seconds left in the first half.
