Senior Kyle Trask passed for a career-high 474 yards and four touchdowns as No. 8 Florida took control of the SEC East by rolling through No. 5 Georgia 44-28 on Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Gators (4-1, 4-1 SEC) snapped a three-game losing streak to the Bulldogs (4-2, 4-2), who have won the past three division titles. Florida, now holding the tiebreaker over Georgia, has an effective two-game lead in the East.

Trask did most of his damage in a wild first half in which he threw for 341 yards and all of his touchdowns, leading Florida to a 38-21 lead. Trask has thrown 22 touchdowns this season, becoming the first quarterback in SEC history with at least four TDs in five consecutive games.

Georgia led 14-0 after the first 3:16 of the game but couldn't keep pace after that. Quarterback Stetson Bennett IV was ineffective, completing 5 of 16 passes for 78 yards before being pulled following an interception on the Bulldogs' opening drive of the second half.

His replacement, D'Wan Mathis, fared no better, completing 4 of 13 passes for 34 yards and two interceptions.

Florida played more than half the game without star tight end Kyle Pitts, who took a helmet-to-helmet targeting hit from defensive back Lewis Cine with 8:28 to go in the first half. Earlier, Pitts caught a 25-yard touchdown pass, his eighth scoring reception of the season.

Evan McPherson contributed to the Gators' cause with field goals of 50, 51 yards and 34 yards.

Georgia's Zamir White ran for a 75-yard touchdown on the game's first snap, but Florida ultimately tied game late in the first quarter. The Bulldogs pulled ahead 21-14 on Eric Stokes' 37-yard interception return with 12:17 to go before halftime.

From there, it was almost all Gators.

Florida scored the final 24 points of the half, including a touchdown with 11 seconds to go when Trask hit a leaping Trevon Grimes for a 14-yard score.

Georgia receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint suffered a gruesome ankle injury when he was hit near the goal line while scoring on a 32-yard reception with 11:44 to go in the first quarter. He was carted off the field, returning later to the sideline on crutches with a cast on his lower right leg.
