Keith Duncan made four field goals to lead No. 17 Iowa to a 19-10 win over Illinois on Saturday afternoon in Iowa City, Iowa.

Illinois was motivated for revenge after dropping a 63-0 decision at home to Iowa last year, but it still wasn't enough to earn a win.

Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley completed 18 of 35 passes for 308 yards with one interception. Wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette caught four passes for 121 yards.

Iowa scored on the first possession of the game, taking a 7-0 lead on a 2-yard touchdown run by freshman running back Tyler Goodson with 10:16 left in the first quarter.

The run capped a nine-play, 75-yard drive for the Hawkeyes (8-3, 5-3 Big Ten).

Illinois (6-5, 4-4) answered later in the first quarter, tying the game at 7 with 6:26 left on a 31-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Brandon Peters to sophomore wideout Donny Navarro. Peters finished 16 of 31 for 125 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Iowa mounted another long drive and took a 10-7 lead with 9:34 left in the second quarter on Duncan's 23-yard field goal, which finished off a 10-play, 70-yard drive.

Duncan made a 45-yard field goal on the last play of the first half to give the Hawkeyes a 13-7 lead at intermission.

After a scoreless third quarter, Iowa seized a 16-7 lead with 14:08 remaining in the game on a 24-yard field goal by Duncan.

Illinois cut its deficit to 16-10 with 10:52 remaining on a 28-yard field goal by James McCourt.

After Iowa's Jack Korner recovered a Peters fumble at Illinois' 47-yard line, Iowa drove 36 yards in nine plays and took a 19-10 lead with 2:44 remaining on a 29-yard field goal by Duncan.

Illinois turned the ball over on downs on its ensuing possession.
