The Texas Tech Red Raiders scored touchdowns on their first five possessions as they crushed the West Virginia Mountaineers 38-17 in a Big 12 matchup Saturday in Morgantown, W.Va.

Ta'Zhawn Henry and SaRodorick Thompson each rushed for two scores, and Jett Duffey threw for 354 yards and a touchdown for Texas Tech (4-5, 2-4 Big 12), which ended a three-game losing streak.

Dalton Rigdon made three catches for 106 for the Red Raiders. Duffey completed 24 of 34 passes with no interceptions.

The Red Raiders entered the game averaging just over 30 points and 478 yards per game. In the first half, they surpassed the first statistic with 35 points and were well on their to the second with 337 yards. They finished with 481 total yards.

West Virginia's Austin Kendall went 26 of 43 passing for 355 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions before being replaced late in the third quarter. The Mountaineers finished with 549 total yards.

Backup quarterback Jarret Doege was 11 of 17 passing for 119 yards, including a 9-yard touchdown pass to Tony Mathis with five seconds left in the game.

Sam James made 14 catches for 223 yards for West Virginia (3-6, 1-5), which lost its fifth straight game. George Campbell had three receptions for 95 yards.

On their first possession, the Red Raiders went 72 yards on 11 plays, capped by a 2-yard run by Henry.

West Virginia followed by driving to the Texas Tech 13 but settled for a 30-yard field goal from Casey Legg.

The game turned on the next two plays from scrimmage. First, Duffey found Rigdon wide open behind the West Virginia defense for an 81-yard touchdown and a 14-3 lead.

Then Texas Tech's Douglas Coleman III picked off a Kendall pass on the Mountaineers' first play. It led to Henry's second touchdown, a 4-yard run, and the score was 21-3.

Thompson's scores came in the second quarter, from 1 yard and 2 yards, sandwiched around West Virginia's first touchdown. The Mountaineers' score came when Kendall lateraled to Isaiah Esdale, who fired a 24-yard touchdown pass to Kennedy McKoy.

Trailing 35-10, West Virginia tried to rally in its first possession after halftime, driving 64 yards on 14 plays before turning the ball over on downs at the Texas Tech 11.

Two possessions later, the Mountaineers drove to the Red Raiders' 17, but on a flea-flicker, Damarcus Fields picked off Kendall in the end zone.

Texas Tech played without leading receiver T.J. Vasher, who was suspended for what the university called a violation of team rules. The junior has 473 yards and six touchdowns on 37 catches.

Texas Tech's Travis Koontz was ejected late in the third quarter for targeting.
