Charlie Brewer hit Denzel Mims for a 4-yard touchdown that scored the deciding points in triple overtime as visiting No. 12 Baylor outlasted TCU 29-23 on Saturday afternoon in Fort Worth, Texas, in a wild Big 12 Conference dustup.

The win allowed the Bears (9-0, 5-0 Big 12) to tie their all-time best start, matching 2013 when they won their first nine games and were ranked No. 3 in the nation. The Bears eventually ended up 11-2, the most wins ever in a season by Baylor, and gave them their first-ever Big 12 title.

The two teams managed just six field goals, three each, and 442 combined yards in regulation, with John Mayers' 51-yard kick with 36 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter sending the game into the extra period tied at 9.

Baylor had the ball first on offense and converted two third downs before Brewer sprinted to his right and dove into the end zone for a 3-yard touchdown run. TCU answered on its possession when Te'Vailance Hunt found a way to get a hand down in the end zone for a 24-yard TD pass from Max Duggan on fourth down.

Sewo Olonilua's 2-yard scoring run in the second overtime period gave TCU (4-5, 2-4) a 23-16 lead before Baylor responded with a 20-yard TD pass from Brewer to Mims, again on a do-or-die play, to tie the game at 23-23.

Brewer found a leaping Mims for a 4-yard touchdown pass on Baylor's possession to begin the third overtime, but the Bears failed on a two-point conversion pass, leaving the score at 29-23. TCU moved to the Baylor 3 on its possession, but a holding penalty pushed it back to the 14 and Duggan's last-gasp pass into the end zone on fourth down was intercepted.

The Horned Frogs began the scoring with a 47-yard field goal from Griffin Kell on the game's opening possession.

Jonathan Song added pair of field goals for TCU in the final minute of the second quarter. After Song kicked a 37-yarder 29 seconds before halftime, Baylor's Trystan Slinker fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and TCU's Derius Davis recovered at the Baylor 24-yard line.

Four plays pushed the ball to the 14, from where Song ripped a 31-yard field goal on the last snap of the half to hand the Horned Frogs a 9-0 lead at intermission.

Baylor got on the board early in the third quarter with a 36-yard field goal by Mayers, who had missed earlier in the game. The Bears then pulled to within 9-6 early in the fourth quarter on Mayers' 24-yard FG.
