J.K. Dobbins rushed for 172 yards, including a 67-yard touchdown, and No. 4 Ohio State overcame a slow start to defeat No. 25 Michigan State 34-10 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Saturday night.

Dobbins' TD put the Buckeyes (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) ahead 24-10 with 2:24 to play in the second quarter, and they added a field goal before the half. That capped a 24-point quarter after the offense struggled against the Spartans (4-2, 2-1) in the opening quarter.

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields finished 17 of 25 passing for 206 yards and two touchdowns, but in the third quarter threw his first interception of the season on his 175th attempt.

His 1-yard run with 10:41 left in the game upped the lead to 34-10.

Michigan State quarterback Brian Lewerke went 20 of 38 for 218 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Ohio State had 323 of its 529 total yards on the ground.

The Spartans lost fumbles in their own territory the first two times they had the ball, but the Buckeyes scored only three points after a missed 37-yard field goal by Blake Haubeil and his 39-yard make.

Ohio State had 16 total yards, zero rushing, in the first quarter but took a 10-0 lead on a 60-yard TD catch by Binjimen Victor early in the second.

Lewerke had a 20-yard scoring strike to Darrell Stewart to make it 10-7 before Fields' 21-yard TD to Luke Farrell regained the 10-point advantage at the 8:09 mark of the second quarter.

The Spartans answered with a 39-yard field goal by Matt Coghlin to make it 17-10, but Dobbins broke through the line and shirked a tackle attempt at the 20 for a 67-yard score and a 24-10 lead.

Haubeil added a 44-yard field goal with five seconds left in the half. OSU has outscored opponents 134-20 in the second quarter this season.
