Jalen Hurts had a career day as No. 6 Oklahoma opened Big 12 play with a 55-16 win over Texas Tech in Norman, Okla., on Saturday.

Hurts, a graduate transfer from Alabama, threw for a career-high 415 yards and three touchdowns while running for 70 more yards and a score.

Hurts completed 17 of his 24 passes. Through four games, Hurts has thrown for 12 touchdowns and rushed for five.

Oklahoma raced out to a quick lead and the Red Raiders never again seriously threatened.

The Sooners (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) outgained Texas Tech 644-314.

Texas Tech (2-2, 0-1) was playing its first game without quarterback Alan Bowman, who suffered a shoulder injury in a loss to Arizona on Sept. 14.

Rice transfer Jackson Tyner started for the Red Raiders and struggled out of the gate, completing just 1 of 5 passes for 2 yards on the first two drives before being replaced by Jett Duffey with the Sooners already leading 14-0.

It didn't much matter by that point, as Oklahoma was rolling right along under Hurts.

On Oklahoma's second offensive play of the game, Hurts hit Charleston Rambo for a 48-yard gain to set up a score three plays later.

The next time the Sooners had the ball, Hurts scored on a 1-yard run to extend the lead to 14-0.

CeeDee Lamb had a career-high 185 yards and three touchdowns on seven receptions, while Rambo finished with two catches for 122 yards.

Lamb had touchdown catches of 71, 14 and 65 yards.

Trey Sermon added a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Sooners.

The game was a far cry from the shootouts between the teams in recent years. Texas Tech had averaged nearly 40 points per game against the Sooners in the previous four meetings, though the Red Raiders haven't beaten Oklahoma since 2011.

Texas Tech converted just one of its 14 third-down tries.

Duffey went 11-of-20 passing for 120 yards, and SaRodorick Thompson finished with 96 yards on 13 carries.

The Red Raiders' only touchdown came on a 13-yard run by Armand Shyne with 11:44 left in the second quarter.
