Freshman running back Re'Mahn Davis ran for two touchdowns, as the Temple Owls rolled to a 24-2 victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia.

Temple's defense made timely plays in both halves to shape the game. The Owls (3-1) weren't especially sharp on offense, but they did just enough defensively to secure a victory that was much closer than the final score indicated.

Georgia Tech (1-3) lost by a large margin, but this game easily could have gone the other way if not for two game-defining plays.

The first huge play came early in the second quarter. Georgia Tech quarterback Tobias Oliver scrambled toward the goal line but was hit by Temple's Isaiah Graham-Mobley at the 1-yard line. The ball popped out before it broke the plane of the goal line. Temple recovered the fumble to thwart a 15-play, 85-yard drive by the Yellow Jackets.

Temple then pounded Georgia Tech's defense for two second-quarter touchdowns. Davis scored on runs of 18 yards and 1 yard to give the Owls a 14-0 lead at halftime.

Georgia Tech once again threatened to score early in the third quarter, moving to the Temple 33-yard line.

Once again, Oliver scrambled. Once again, he fumbled. Temple's Benny Walls scooped up the loose ball and returned it for a 74-yard touchdown and a 21-0 lead.

Temple quarterback Anthony Russo threw for 127 yards on 9-for-22 passing, with one interception. Davis ran for 135 yards on 29 carries with those two second-quarter touchdowns that put the Owls in front to stay.

Oliver was 4-for-11 passing for 74 yards for Georgia Tech. He ran 11 times for 68 yards. Backup quarterback James Graham was 10 of 24 for 100 yards and one interception for the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech's only score was a team safety in the third quarter.
