TCU showed no mercy on a Purdue squad missing its standout quarterback, steamrolling to a 34-13 victory in a non-conference clash Saturday night in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The Horned Frogs limited the Boilermakers, who played without quarterback Elijah Sindelar due to a concussion, to just 204 total yards and eight first downs to win the teams' first meeting since 1970.

Darius Anderson needed just 16 carries to stack up a career-high 179 yards and two touchdowns for TCU (2-0). Fellow senior running back Sewo Olonilua added 106 yards and a score on 18 carries, as the Horned Frogs rolled up 346 rushing yards and controlled the ball for 40 minutes, 33 seconds.

Graduate transfer quarterback Alex Delton (1 of 6, 5 yards) started for TCU, but true freshman Max Duggan (7 of 18, 70 yards) wound up playing more snaps.

For Purdue (1-2), redshirt freshman quarterback Jack Plummer made his first career start, as Sindelar had to sit just seven days after throwing for 509 yards and five touchdowns in a win over Vanderbilt.

Plummer completed 13 of 29 passes for 181 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, as he connected with sophomore All-American receiver Rondale Moore just three times for 25 yards. Moore entered the night pacing the nation in catches (24) and ranking second in receiving yards (344).

TCU committed one of its few mistakes on its opening possession, as Delton's quick slant was broken up and redirected to freshman defensive end George Karlaftis for an interception at TCU's 21. The Horned Frogs held fast and forced Purdue to settle for junior kicker J.D. Dellinger's 31-yard field goal.

On Purdue's next possession, Plummer connected with Moore on a deep slant, but sophomore safety Trevon Moehrig ripped the ball away from Moore while wrestling him to the grass at Purdue's 41. Senior kicker Jonathan Song turned the interception into a 24-yard field goal to make it 3-3 with 4:09 left in the first.

Anderson creased Purdue's defense for a 32-yard touchdown -- one of several cutback runs that netted big yardage - to give TCU a 10-3 lead with 1:32 left in the first.

The Boilermakers didn't earn their initial first down until their sixth drive -- Plummer connecting with fifth-year senior tight end Brycen Hopkins for 38 yards -- and it led to Dellinger's career-long 53-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 10-6 with 12:35 left in the half.

TCU threatened again near the end of the first half, but junior cornerback Simeon Smiley blitzed in for a third-down sack that forced the Horned Frogs out of the red zone. Song settled for a 40-yard field goal and a 13-6 lead at the break.

Purdue managed just 66 total yards (minus-1 on the ground) during the first half as Moore caught two passes for 12 yards on three targets. TCU owned 188 total yards at the break, as head coach Gary Patterson toggled between Delton and Duggan at quarterback.

The Horned Frogs pushed their margin to 20-6 on their second drive of the second half on Duggan's 22-yard touchdown toss to sophomore wideout Al'Dontre Davis. Purdue never picked up Davis' route out of the backfield, and he was uncovered in the middle of the end zone.

Purdue tried to get creative on its ensuing possession with a flea-flicker, but senior cornerback Jeff Gladney wasn't fooled and dropped into coverage to pick off Plummer's pass.

TCU kept mostly to the ground for another score with 1:24 to go in the third. Olonilua capped the 72-yard drive by lining up in the Wildcat formation and fighting his way in from 1 yard out. Anderson added an 8-yard touchdown jaunt with 5:45 left to make it 34-6.

Purdue finally discovered TCU's end zone with 3:40 left when Plummer found redshirt freshman wideout Amad Anderson Jr. for a 54-yard bomb that marked the first career touchdown for both.

Not only did Purdue play without Sindelar, but standout linebacker Markus Bailey missed his first game since suffering a season-ending knee injury that required surgery.
