Quarterback Josh Jackson passed for 217 yards in the first half as No. 12 Virginia Tech had four rushing touchdowns in the first half and crushed visiting William & Mary 62-17 on Saturday in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Running back Steven People ran for 55 yards on just six carries and scored twice for the Hokies. Reggie Floyd led the hosts in tackles with seven.

The Hokies led 38-7 at halftime but head coach Justin Fuente was still upset with some "small details" for his team. "We have to play to a certain level every time we step on the field," he said on the Hokies radio network at halftime.

William & Mary allowed more than 400 yards in the first half while three Virginia Tech rushers averaged 7.0 per carry in the first half. The Tribe was 0 for 5 on third-down plays in the first half.

The Hokies (2-0) were coming off a convincing 24-3 victory against ranked Florida State on Monday night. Linebacker Rayshard Ashby and defensive back Caleb Farley were named ACC players of the week after that performance as Virginia Tech won at Florida State for the first time since 1974.

Virginia Tech has another non-conference game September 15, hosting East Carolina. The Tribe will host Elon the same day in its first CAA contest.
