Zach Edey scored 10 of his 30 points in overtime and Lance Jones added 26 points as No. 2 Purdue avenged one of its two defeats this season with a 105-96 victory Wednesday over visiting Northwestern at West Lafayette, Ind.

Fletcher Loyer scored 15 points and Braden Smith had 11 points with a career-high 16 assists for Purdue (20-2, 9-2 Big Ten), which shot 57.9 percent from the floor and won the rebounding battle 36-22. The Boilermakers have won at least 20 games for the eighth time in the past 10 seasons.

Loyer sealed the victory on a 3-pointer with 38 seconds remaining in overtime for a 96-90 lead.

Edey also had 15 rebounds and set a pair of Purdue records, scoring in double digits for the 73rd consecutive game while also recording his 54th double-double.

The Boilermakers' victory came after they fell 92-88 in overtime on the road to the Wildcats on Dec. 1 in their Big Ten opener, while ranked No. 1. It was the second consecutive season Purdue fell to Northwestern as the top-ranked team.

Boo Buie and Ty Berry each scored 25 points as Northwestern (15-6, 6-4) saw its two-game winning streak come to an end. Brooks Barnhizer scored 14 points and Ryan Langborg added 12 for the Wildcats, who shot 57.6 percent from the floor.

Northwestern head coach Chris Collins was ejected with 1.7 seconds remaining in the extra period for coming onto the court to confront an official. Purdue's Mason Gillis added four technical-foul free throws and finished with 14 points.

Northwestern led 78-73 with 2:37 remaining in regulation after a layup from Barnhizer, for its biggest lead of the second half. Purdue rallied back on a Jones 3-pointer and a follow-up rebound and dunk from Edey to tie the score 78-78 with 1:35 remaining.

Berry gave the Wildcats an 81-80 lead with 37 seconds remaining after he was fouled on a 3-point attempt by Smith and made all three free throws. Edey tied it 81-81 when he made one of two free throws with 16.3 seconds remaining.

Buie missed a floater over Edey that would have won the game at the regulation buzzer.
