Spencer Jones hit six 3-pointers and scored 21 points as Stanford rallied from a 12-point, second-half deficit to stop visiting Chicago State 72-65 on Wednesday night.

Maxime Raynaud added 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Cardinal (8-12), who won their third straight game on a four-game homestand. Harrison Ingram contributed 13 of his 15 points in the second half.

Wesley Cardet Jr. starred in defeat, pumping in a game-high 31 points on just 12 shots from the field for the Cougars (5-17). Cardet was 9 of 12 from the field, made all three of his 3-pointers and canned all 10 of his foul shots.

Elijah Weaver and Jaesean Corbett added 13 each for Chicago State but combined to make just 10 of 33 shots. The Cougars went cold in the second half, sinking just 7 of 25 attempts from the field.

But Chicago State still owned a 52-40 lead with 13 minutes left before Stanford finally figured things out. A 16-2 run over a 5:51 span gave the Cardinal a 56-54 lead when Michael O'Connell made two foul shots at the 7:09 mark.

Jones made a layup with 5:57 left to put Stanford ahead for good at 58-56. The hosts sealed the game behind 17-of-22 foul shooting in the second half.

In the first meeting of the two programs, Chicago State controlled most of the first half behind the prolific, efficient scoring of Cardet. He entered the game as its leading scorer at 16 points per game.

Cardet set an immediate tone by converting three driving layups and canning a 3-pointer in the first 3 1/2 minutes as the Cougars took a 16-11 lead into the first TV timeout. Stanford couldn't contain him, no matter what it tried.

He converted consecutive 3-pointers in a 46-second span to give him 17 points in the first 10:47 of the game. Getting just enough help from Corbett and Weaver, Cardet finished the half with 19 points, good enough for Chicago State to take a 41-34 halftime advantage.
