Grant Basile tied his career high of 33 points and Justyn Mutts added 19 to lead Virginia Tech to a 93-87 victory over host Notre Dame in Atlantic Coast Conference play on Saturday in South Bend, Ind.

Basile, who had 28 second-half points, went 13 of 19 from the field, including 11 of 15 in the second half, and grabbed seven rebounds. Mutts hit 7 of 16 from the floor to go along with nine assists and eight rebounds for the Hokies, who earned their first road win in eight tries this season.

Sean Pedulla and MJ Collins finished with 12 points apiece for the Hokies, who have won four of their past six games.

The Hokies (15-10, 5-9 ACC) shot 32 of 56 (57.1 percent) from the field, including 9 of 21 (42.9 percent) from beyond the arc.

Notre Dame (10-15, 2-12), was led by Nate Laszewski, who scored a career-high 33 points on 12-for-17 shooting from the field, including 6 of 9 from beyond the arc, to go along with eight rebounds.

Cormac Ryan added 17 points by sinking 5 of 9 3-point shots, with Ven-Allen Lubin adding 11 points.

The Fighting Irish, who have dropped three straight games and seven of their past eight contests, shot 34 of 62 (54.8 percent) from the floor, including 13 of 30 (43.3 percent) from beyond the arc.

Virginia Tech took control of the game by going on an 11-4 run to take a 70-63 advantage with 9:21 to go.

The Hokies made 10 straight shots -- including seven by Basile -- during a seven-minute stretch in the second half, capped by Basile's layup that extended their advantage to 85-75 with 3:49 remaining.

Neither team led by more than seven points in the first half, which ended with the Hokies taking a 43-40 lead at halftime.

Mutts scored nine points and Collins and Pedulla added seven apiece in the first 20 minutes for Virginia Tech.

Notre Dame was carried in the first half by Laszewski's 20 points, while Ryan added eight.
