Jordan Miller scored 14 points, and Norchad Omier added 12 as visiting Miami defeated winless Louisville 80-53 in Sunday afternoon's ACC opener for both teams.

Louisville (0-8), which is off to its worst start since 1941, was plagued by 19 turnovers.

Miami (8-1) also got 10 points from Isaiah Wong, who overcame an injury scare. With 16:26 left in the first half, Wong collided with a Louisville player on a screen. Wong injured his left leg, but he returned with 9:07 left in the first half, and he was able to come close to his 13.8 scoring average.

Because of the blowout, no Hurricanes player logged more than 24 minutes. Eleven different Miami players scored at least three points.

Louisville was held to its second-lowest scoring output of the season, trailing only the 38 points the Cardinals scored on Nov. 22 against Texas Tech.

Jae'Lyn Withers led Louisville with 12 points., including 10 in the first half. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield added 10 points.

Guard El Ellis, who entered the game leading Louisville with a 16.9 scoring average, was held to seven points on 1-for-10 shooting.

Louisville led briefly at 5-2, but the Cardinals turned the ball over four times in their first seven possessions.

Those miscues led to Miami's 17-7 early lead. Then, after a 10-0 run, Miami was on top 42-23 at halftime.

Omier led all first-half scorers with 12 points, and he did it on 6-for-6 shooting, all of it in the paint.

Louisville finished the first half with 11 turnovers and 37.5-percent shooting, including 2-for-10 on 3-pointers. Miami shot 58.1 percent, including 4-for-9 on 3-pointers. The Canes were also plus-seven on steals, plus-six on assists and plus-four on rebounds.

The game was never close in the second half.

Miami, which shot just 1 of 9 on 3-pointers in last Wednesday's win over Rutgers, was much more accurate in this game. The Hurricanes shot 50 percent from the floor and 6 for 22 on 3-pointers.

Louisville shot just 29.8 percent from the floor, including 3 for 20 on 3-pointers.
