Senior Luka Garza scored 34 points while sinking a career-best six 3-pointers and Jack Nunge notched 17 points and 10 rebounds to lift No. 3 Iowa to a 105-77 victory against Iowa State on Friday night in Iowa City.

After navigating foul trouble for much of the first half and an early spell in the second, Garza torched the Cyclones for 25 second-half points on 10-for-10 shooting.

The preseason All-American scored 21 successive Iowa points during one stretch and finished 13-for-14 from the field in 17 minutes. Garza hit 6 of 7 3-poin attempts and was 2-for-4 from the free-throw line.

Iowa improved to 5-0 behind 54.4 percent shooting (37-for-68). The Hawkeyes, who led by as many as 30 in the second half, have scored at least 93 points in each game.

Joe Wieskamp added 16 points and Joe Toussaint had seven assists as Iowa earned its third straight victory in the CyHawk series. The Hawkeyes boast a 47-27 advantage in the intrastate rivalry overall and produced the highest point total ever in the series on Friday.

Javan Johnson (20 points) paced Iowa State (1-2) with 20 points while Rasir Bolton (18) and Jalen Coleman-Lands (17) followed. The Cyclones shot 43.8 percent and were outrebounded 38-32. Coleman-Lands and Solomon Young each snagged a team-best six boards.

The Hawkeyes, ahead by 11 at halftime, opened the second half on a 9-0 run. Iowa scored 21 of 26 points during a 5:42 stretch bridging the end of the first half and the beginning of the second.

After a pair of Tyler Harris free throws brought the Cyclones to within 38-36 with 4:26 remaining in the first half, Iowa responded with a 12-0 run that included four points apiece from Wieskamp, Nunge and Connor McCaffery.

The Hawkeyes took a 52-41 lead into halftime by capitalizing when Garza was on the floor and off. Garza scored nine points in seven minutes before picking up his second foul, but with Nunge providing a steadying force -- he had 15 first-half points on 6-of-7 shooting while grabbing eight rebounds -- Iowa hardly missed a beat.

Iowa closed the half on a 23-9 run with Garza on the bench. The Hawkeyes shot 52.9 percent in the first 20 minutes compared to 46.9 percent for the Cyclones.
