David McCormack scored 17 points on 7-for-8 shooting Thursday to lead four Kansas scorers in double figures as the No. 7 Jayhawks thrashed Washburn 89-54 at Lawrence, Kan.

Kansas (3-1) ran its string of wins in home openers to 48, a streak that began in 1973-74 to launch a Final Four run with Ted Owens as coach.

McCormack had struggled in the Jayhawks' first three games and was coming off a 1-for-9 effort Tuesday against No. 20 Kentucky. He looked much more comfortable against the smaller Ichabods, recording his first block of the season early in the second half.

Ochai Agbaji, Jalen Wilson and Bryce Thompson added 16, 13 and 11 points, respectively, for the Jayhawks. Marcus Garrett distributed five assists.

No one scored in double figures for the Division II Ichabods (3-1). Levi Braun had a team-high nine points while Tyler Geiman had five assists for Washburn. The Ichabods are coached by Brett Ballard, who played at Kansas under coach Roy Williams before serving on Bill Self's staff from 2003-10.

Washburn trailed 49-32 at halftime, made a layup on its first possession of the second half and then went scoreless until the 12:26 mark.

Washburn trailed just 27-22 at the 7:25 mark of the first half after Braun connected on one of his three 3-pointers.

The Jayhawks then rattled off 11 unanswered points to take command while the Ichabods missed five consecutive attempts.

McCormack led Kansas with 13 first-half points while Wilson netted three first-half treys and added 12 points.

Kansas shuffled players throughout both halves after arriving home at 4 a.m. Wednesday following its win over Kentucky in the Champions Classic at Indianapolis.

Only family members of players attended the game. Kansas athletic director Jeff Long announced that fans would again be permitted in limited numbers (2,500) beginning Tuesday when the Jayhawks greet No. 9 Creighton.
