Remy Martin scored 24 points and Arizona State overcame a late scoring drought to hold off host Stanford 74-69 in a Pacific-12 Conference men's basketball game Thursday night.

Alonzo Verge Jr. backed Martin with 19 points off the bench for Arizona State (16-8, 7-4), which won its fourth in a row.

Tyrell Terry tied Martin for game-high scoring honors with 24 points for Stanford (16-8, 5-6), which played without Oscar da Silva, who suffered a head injury last week at Colorado.

The Sun Devils led most the way, using an 11-point run just past the midpoint of the first half to go up 31-17. Kimani Lawrence had two hoops, including a 3-pointer, in the spurt.

Stanford hung within 36-29 at halftime, then crept as close as 50-46 on a layup by Bryce Wills with 13:33 to go.

But Jaelen House countered with a 3-pointer to push the lead back to seven, and Stanford never caught up.

Down 68-57 with 5:34 to go after Martin bombed in a 3-pointer, Stanford made one final push, holding the visitors scoreless for the next 5:03.

Meanwhile, a basket by James Keefe and three by Terry closed the gap to 68-65 with still 2:14 to play.

Stanford then had two possessions with a chance to tie with a 3-pointer, but committed a turnover on each, after which Martin dropped in a drought-ending layup with 31 seconds remaining.

Rob Edwards and Martin added two free throws apiece to ice the win.

Verge had team-highs with seven rebounds and four assists for the Sun Devils, who had lost their two previous trips to Stanford.

Lawrence finished with 11 points for Arizona State, which outshot Stanford 54.7 percent to 52.0 percent.

Jaiden Delaire chipped in 11 points for Stanford, while Spencer Jones added nine and Wills eight.

The Cardinal outscored the Sun Devils 18-15 on 3-pointers, with Jones doing all his scoring on three treys.
