Josh Nebo had his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds and Mark French had career highs with 12 points and five rebounds in his second career start as host Texas A&M overcame a nine-point deficit for a 56-52 victory over Troy on Wednesday in College Station, Texas.

Jay Jay Chandler had 10 points for the Aggies (3-1), who were playing their first game after a 30-point home drubbing by No. 8 Gonzaga on Friday.

The Aggies trailed Troy by eight at the half, and rather than take the players into the locker room, coach Buzz Williams kept them on the court for an animated talk before second-half warmups.

Darian Adams had 20 points and four 3-pointers, Charles Norman had nine points and KJ Simon had 10 rebounds and five assists for the Trojans (1-4), who are 2-25 all-time against NCAA Power Five opponents.

The senior guard French had a 3-pointer and two free throws and Savion Flagg had a dunk off a French feed and three free throws when the Aggies went on a 12-0 run to grab a 51-42 lead with 1:14 remaining.

Adams' 3-pointer brought the Trojans within 53-50 with 12.8 seconds remaining, but the Aggies made three free throws in the final 12 seconds to hold on.

Troy's leading scorer Zay Williams, 6-8 sophomore, had only two points in 17 minutes after suffering an apparent leg injury midway through the first half. He was averaging 17.3 points and 5.8 rebounds entering the game.

French started in place of freshman point guard Andre Gordon, who has a foot injury. He entered Wednesday third on the team with a 10.0 scoring average.

Nebo, a 6-foot-9 senior, had five blocked shots to give him 224 in his career, the active Division I leader. French's two 3-pointers tied a career high.

Troy had a 45-44 rebounding advantage and had 17 second-chance points on 14 offensive rebounds. The Aggies shot 32.1 percent. Troy shot 31.8 percent

Norman had five points and Adams had four points when Troy opened an early 12-5 lead after the Aggies missed nine of their first 10 field-goal attempts. The Aggies also had six turnovers in the first eight minutes, and trailed 25-17 at halftime.
