Markus Howard scored 30 points and Marquette still managed to use more of a balanced attack Wednesday to earn a 93-72 Big East Conference victory over visiting Georgetown that ended a three-game losing streak.

Howard, who entered as the leading scorer in the nation at 27.1 points per game, played facilitator for stretches, collecting a team-high seven assists as four Marquette players scored in double figures.

Sacar Anim and Jama Cain scored 15 points each for the Golden Eagles (18-9, 8-7 Big East), while Brendan Bailey scored 10. Jayce Johnson just missed double figures in points with nine, but had 11 rebounds.

Marquette was playing its first game since it was dropped from the national rankings. The Golden Eagles were ranked No. 19 last week but lost to Providence and Creighton. They were ranked No. 18 two weeks ago but were defeated by Villanova.

Jagan Mosely scored 19 points and Jahvon Blair added 18 for the Hoyas (15-13, 5-10), who dropped their third consecutive game. Jamorko Pickett scored 12 points for Georgetown.

The Hoyas were without guard Matt McClung (15.7 points per game) because of a foot injury and center Omer Yurtseven (15.8) because of an ankle injury. McClung scored 24 points and Yurtseven added 22 when Georgetown lost to Marquette 84-80 at home on Jan. 18.

The Golden Eagles had their way early, building a 20-point lead with 3:39 remaining in the first half. Marquette led 43-32 at the break by shooting 48.4 percent in the opening 20 minutes, while holding the Hoyas to 37.9 percent in the first half.

The Golden Eagles were even more efficient from the field in the second half and finished the game 56.7 percent from the field. Georgetown finished at 41.9 percent for the game.

Needing to get back on track, Marquette delivered its highest-scoring game in Big East play. It scored the most points in a game since totaling 106 in a nonconference victory over Central Arkansas on Dec. 28.
