D.J. Jeffries and Tyler Harris each scored 11 points Saturday to help No. 13 Memphis defeat state rival Tennessee 51-47, snapping the 19th-ranked Volunteers' 31-game home winning streak.

Damion Baugh added 10 points for the Tigers (9-1), who outrebounded UT 49-39. Precious Achiuwa had eight points and 13 rebounds.

Josiah-Jordan James scored 14 points to lead the Volunteers (7-2), which had held Division I's longest active home winning streak.

Baugh's 3-pointer gave Memphis a 49-47 edge with 1:43 remaining. After each team had a possession ending with a missed shot, James fired an errant 3-pointer that Yves Pons rebounded. He was fouled but missed a free throw with 21 seconds to go.

Alex Lomax (eight points) sank two free throws with 7.9 seconds left to virtually seal the victory.

Both teams struggled shooting. The Volunteers shot 25 percent (15 of 60) overall, including 15.4 percent (4 of 26) from 3-point territory. The Tigers were at 33.9 percent (19 of 56) from the field and just 8 of 13 from the free throw line.

The Tigers' victory denied Tennessee coach Rick Barnes career victory No. 700.

The largest lead during the first 10 minutes of the second half was four points, twice by Memphis. The teams battled back forth the rest of the way, with six lead changes in the final 8:04.

Memphis led 25-24 at halftime after trailing by as many as 12 points and going without a field goal for a 10-plus-minute span. The Tigers fell behind 17-5 before Jeffries' layup at 7:58.

That started a 20-7 half-ending run for Memphis as Tennessee starters James (3:45 mark), Jordan Bowden (5:18) and Pons (14:53) all went to the bench with two fouls.

Both teams shot poorly during the first 20 minutes, with the Volunteers hitting 20 percent and the Tigers making 31 percent.
