Brandon Childress' 17 points and Andrien White's 13 points were also crucial for Wake Forest (2-1). Isaiah Mucius added 10 points to help the Demon Deacons improve to 9-0 all time against the Bulldogs (1-2).

Tajion Jones led UNC Asheville with 22 points. DeVon Baker added 17 points, and Lavar Batts Jr. scored all 13 of his points in the first half, helping the Bulldogs stay within striking range.

The game was tied 72-72 on a fastbreak bucket by Jones. Childress scored the next four points to begin what became a 13-4 run, though he picked up his fourth foul at the 7:07 mark in the process.

But Sarr, a 7-footer, was cleaning up around the rim, and the Bulldogs couldn't match up.

Wake Forest held a 49-44 halftime lead. It was a big offensive showing for the Demon Deacons, who didn't score more than 27 first-half points in either of their first two games. It was the team's most first-half points in nearly two years, aided by 19-for-27 shooting from the field.

UNC Asheville's quest for a fast pace created extra possessions. The Bulldogs produced 15 points off 10 Wake Forest turnovers in the opening half.

UNC Asheville was within a point when 6-foot-9 forward Coty Jude picked up his fourth foul with more than 16 1/2 minutes to play. The Bulldogs didn't flinch.

Wake Forest's 16-point advantage dwindled to 44-42 with about two minutes left in the half.

Wake Forest started the game 8-for-8 from the field.

Brown scored eight points in the first six minutes as the Demon Deacons built a 19-9 lead.
