Miami (Fla). 76, Virginia Tech 52: Tonye Jekiri matched his career high with 15 points and also grabbed 15 rebounds as the host Hurricanes pulled away in the second half.

Sheldon McClellan supplied 21 points and three assists while Jekiri made 6-of-7 from the floor and blocked two shots for Miami (17-9, 7-6 ACC), which plays at No. 12 Louisville on Saturday. Angel Rodriguez scored all 11 of his points in the second half and also posted four assists and three steals for the Hurricanes.

Adam Smith made three 3-pointers and scored 15 points for Virginia Tech (10-16, 2-11), which dropped its 16th straight ACC road game. Justin Bibbs had 11 points and also hit three 3-pointers, and Devin Wilson added 11 points for the Hokies.

Ahmed Hill and Smith opened the game with 3-pointers and Malik Muller made a layup to give Virginia Tech an early 8-2 advantage and the Hokies held a lead for more than 10 minutes before Davon Reed's basket gave Miami its first lead at 14-13 just past the midway point of the half. James Palmer and Manu Lecomte each drilled a 3-pointer and McClellan scored to put Miami up 29-23, but Bibbs closed the half with a 3-pointer to make it a three-point game at the break.

The Hurricanes dominated the second half, beginning with a 17-4 run over the first six minutes to take a 46-30 lead. Jekiri's dunk pushed the margin to 18 points with a little more than nine minutes remaining and Reed's bucket put it at 25 with five minutes left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Hokies were 5-of-14 from beyond the arc in the first half, but just 4-of-10 from inside. ... Jekiri, the ACC's leading rebounder, had eight in the first half before finishing with his sixth game of 15 or more rebounds this season. ... Reed produced nine points and five assists for the Hurricanes, who finished with a commanding 40-19 edge in rebounding and 21-10 in assists.
