No. 8 Duke 74, Georgia State 55: Mason Plumlee recorded 19 points, 14 rebounds and blocked four shots as the Blue Devils pulled away from visiting Georgia State in the opener for both teams.

Seth Curry chipped in with 15 points and Tyler Thornton added 13 for Duke, which matched the school record with its 95th consecutive home victory against a non-conference team.

Devonta White led the Panthers with 19 points and freshman R.J. Hunter added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Georgia State, which has two of its top eight scorers back from a 22-win team, trailed just 17-15 after a James Vincent basket with 7:48 left in the first half. Duke responded with a 13-2 run and settled for a 32-22 lead at halftime.

Curry and freshman Rasheed Sulaimon began the second half with 3-pointers and the Blue Devils were on their way to a 13th straight season-opening victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Duke is 40-3 against current Colonial Athletic Association teams, including 28 wins in a row. Georgia State is leaving the CAA for the Sun Belt next season. … White was 4-for-5 at the free-throw line, ending his streak of made free throws at 20 dating back to last season. … Duke plays No. 3 Kentucky on Tuesday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
