Creighton overcame a second-half comeback by host Marquette and prevailed in double overtime, 75-69, on Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee.

The Bluejays put together a 14-3 run coming out of halftime to take a 17-point lead, but Marquette chipped away throughout the half and tied the score at 58 at the end of regulation.

Creighton (10-3, 2-0 Big East) shot just 1-of-7 from the field in the extra period until Alex O'Connell hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into double overtime.

Marquette (8-6, 0-3) then went 1-for-7 from the field to close the game, and the Bluejays put together a 6-0 run over the final 1:55 of play to earn their sixth win in their past eight games.

Ryan Kalkbrenner led the Bluejays with 20 points and 12 rebounds on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. Ryan Hawkins had 18 points and 12 rebounds to post his second consecutive double-double, and O'Connell notched 17 points.

Oso Ighodaro led the Golden Eagles with 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting off the bench. Darryl Morsell contributed 13 points in his first game back after being in health and safety protocol, and Justin Lewis added nine points and 12 rebounds despite going just 4-for-18 from the field.

Marquette coach Shaka Smart relied heavily on his bench, which outscored Creighton's 31-4 on the afternoon.

Despite committing nine turnovers through the first 20 minutes of play, the Bluejays went into halftime with a 30-24 lead behind Kalkbrenner's 10 points.

The Golden Eagles' bench kept the team in contention in the first half, outscoring Creighton's 10-0. Ighodaro had six points, and Stevie Mitchell added four along with four rebounds.

A sloppy Marquette start allowed the Bluejays to jump to a 10-point lead midway through the first half. The Golden Eagles shot 3-of-16 and committed four turnovers, with Creighton scoring seven of its first 17 points off those turnovers.
