Kihei Clark scored 19 points and Virginia took command early in the second half on the way to defeating Boston College 67-55 in an Atlantic Coast Conference game Tuesday night in Charlottesville, Va.

The Cavaliers (13-9, 7-5 ACC) have alternated wins and losses in their last nine games. They have won nine of the last 10 games against the Eagles (9-12, 4-7).

Clark led a balanced attack for Virginia, which got 17 points from Jayden Gardner, 13 from Kadin Shedrick and 12 from Armaan Franklin. The Cavaliers made 26 of 29 free throws; Clark was 10-for-10, including six in the final minute.

James Karnik scored 16 points and DeMarr Langford Jr. added 11 for Boston College. Makai Ashton-Langford, who entered the game as the Eagles' leading scorer, was scoreless until the final 3:11 and finished with seven points.

Boston College shot 23.8 percent (5 of 21) from 3-point range.

Virginia opened up a 42-27 lead with a 12-2 run to start the second half, capped by Shedrick's dunk with 14:41 left. Boston College pulled within 57-48 on two free throws by Langford with 2:24 remaining.

Jaeden Zackery made a driving layup with 1:55 to go that would have cut the Eagles' deficit to seven, but he was called for an offensive foul and Shedrick made one of two free throws. Gardner's three-point play put the Cavaliers ahead 61-50 lead with 57 seconds left.

Virginia finished with 20 points off 14 Boston College turnovers, including 15 in the first half.

The Cavaliers moved ahead for the first time at 15-14 on two free throws by Kody Stattmann. Consecutive dunks by Shedrick and a 3-pointer by Clark after a Shedrick steal stretched the lead to 26-19.

Clark beat the first-half buzzer with a baseline jumper to give the Cavaliers a 30-25 advantage at the break.

After playing five games in 11 days, Boston College gets a week off before hosting Syracuse next Tuesday. Virginia hosts Miami on Saturday.
