Jahii Carson scored 21 points and Jordan Bachynski added 16 as the Sun Devils dominated the second half in the consolation semifinal of the Wooden Legacy at Cal State Fullerton.

Carson made 10 of his 16 shots from the field and contributed seven assists after scoring a season-low 15 points in the Sun Devils’ 28-point loss to Creighton on Thursday. Jonathan Gilling chipped in 15 points on five 3-pointers for Arizona State (7-1), which will face Miami (Fla.) in Sunday’s fifth-place game.

Anthony Stitt led College of Charleston (2-5) with 12 points and Adjehi Baru added 11 and nine rebounds. The Cougars trailed by one early in the second half, but the Sun Devils answered with a 15-3 run and extended their lead to 18 on Gilling’s 3-pointer with just under 11 minutes to play.

Egor Koulechov scored 12 points for the Sun Devils, who shot 53.7 percent from the field and made 8-of-19 shots from 3-point range. Arizona State, which is off to its fourth 7-1 start in the last 22 seasons, won despite being outrebounded 41-24.

College of Charleston leading scorer Canyon Barry missed six of his seven shots and finished with four points. The Cougars, who shot 35.6 from the field and missed 10 of their 13 shots from beyond the arc, will play Cal State Fullerton in Sunday’s seventh-place game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Carson gave Arizona State a brief scare when he fell to the floor with an apparent right ankle injury early in the second half, but he was able to return less than three minutes later. … The Sun Devils improved to 59-9 when shooting at least 50 percent under coach Herb Sendek. … After shooting 9-for-20 from the foul line on Thursday, the Sun Devils were 14-for-16 against the Cougars.
