Northwestern State 111, Auburn 92: Freshman Zikiteran Woodley scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half as the visiting Demons rallied from 14 points down with just over 16 minutes left, closing the final 7:42 with a 31-12 spurt.

Northwestern State (2-0), the defending Southland Conference champion, scored 72 points in the second half and finished 14-for-27 from 3-point range. Jalan West scored a career-high 30 points and Gary Stewart added 23 points.

Chris Denson finished with a career-high 29 points – 20 in the first half – for Auburn (1-1), and KT Harrell scored 21 points. The Tigers fell apart after taking a 63-49 lead with 16:30 remaining.

Woodley gave the Demons a 75-73 lead on a layup with 8:48 remaining. Harrell tied the game at 80 on a 3-pointer with 7:42 left, but Woodley put the Demons ahead to stay on a layup 28 seconds later.

Auburn closed within 91-87 on Tahj Shamsid-Deen’s basket with 4:10 to go, but the Demons reeled off the next 12 points to pull away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Northwestern State snapped an eight-game losing streak to SEC teams, the last loss coming against Florida in last season’s NCAA tournament. … The Tigers only hit 10-of-18 free throw attempts. … Northwestern State has a quick turnaround when it faces another SEC foe - LSU - on Saturday.
