Andrew Harrison led the way with a career-high 26 points as the Wildcats held off the visiting Volunteers.

Julius Randle added 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor for Kentucky (13-4, 3-1 SEC), which was 23-of-24 from the free-throw line. Aaron Harrison chipped in 14 for the Wildcats, who picked up the win despite being outrebounded 39-24.

Jarnell Stokes led the Volunteers (11-6, 2-2) with 20 points and 15 rebounds — his eighth double-double of the season. Jordan McRae tallied 17, and was one of two Tennessee players to make a 3-pointer in the contest — the Volunteers were 2-for-13 from long range.

Tennessee opened the game on an 11-5 run and led by as many as nine midway through the first half, but the Wildcats closed the gap behind 16 from Randle and took a 34-32 lead to the break. Tennessee surged ahead after the half, scoring seven straight to take a 39-37 lead on a McRae 3-point play.

The Wildcats seized control later in the half, using a 13-5 run to turn a two-point lead into a 10-point advantage with less than eight minutes to go. Tennessee briefly got within six with less than two minutes to go, but Kentucky kept the Volunteers at an arm’s length for the remainder of the contest.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
No Kentucky player had more than four rebounds. … Stokes cracked the 20-point mark for the fourth time this season. … Willie Cauley-Stein was shut out for Kentucky, shooting 0-for-5 for the game.
