Baylor 86, Texas 79 (OT): Pierre Jackson scored 11 of his 24 points in overtime and Cory Jefferson collected 25 and 12 rebounds as the Bears held off the visiting Longhorns.

Isaiah Austin added 18 points and 11 boards for Baylor (9-4, 1-0 Big 12), which benefited from a huge free throw discrepancy. The Bears went 36-of-45 from the line, including 12-of-15 in overtime, while Texas attempted only 14 free throws in the contest (hitting nine).

Freshman Javan Felix scored a career-high 26 points and handed out nine assists while Sheldon McClellan scored 21 points for the Longhorns (8-6, 0-1). McClellan’s jumper with 1:30 left in overtime gave it a 79-78 edge, but Texas would miss its final five field goal attempts as Baylor pulled away at the line.

The Bears led by nine at the half and were holding a 46-38 lead early in the second period when the Longhorns began to get back into it. Felix started a 10-0 run with an assist on Jaylen Bond’s layup and capped it with a jumper, giving Texas a 48-46 edge with 13:01 to play.

Baylor, which did not make its first field goal of the second half until Brady Heslip’s 3-pointer with 11:08 left, recovered to take the lead back but could not get more than five points clear. Jonathan Holmes’ put-back dunk for Texas knotted it at 68-68 with 41 seconds left and ended up forcing overtime.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Baylor coach Scott Drew missed the contest due to a two-game suspension for NCAA rules violations.
